This is a good book that is well laid out, BUT there are more editing mistakes, inconsistencies and misprints throughout that make it difficult to teach and learn from. Perhaps another edition would be worth my time and money. Good luck with that.

Very easy to read - I didn't know anything about ichthyology until I read this book. It lays everything out and provides sources for all of its findings.

Perfect to begin introducing the Christian story of Easter to young children

I bought this book specifically as a way to begin teaching my 3 year old about the main holiday in Christianity. I like that it begins by talking about the general/secular reason for celebrating the holiday - "new life" and "Springtime" but then goes into the story of the Crucifixtion. It does explain that Jesus was falsly accused and killed, but doesn't go into much more detail then that. Appropriate for the age level and my purposes.

My daughter enjoys reading this book and asks for it from time to time throughout the year.

This is a great story for introducing the story of Christ's crucifixion to children. It works with younger children because it is not scary or alarming. Most older children will be able to read it with little issues.

About the Author
Dr Sarah Whittingham is an historian who specialises in the social history, architecture and gardens of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Sarah is the expert on the Victorian fern craze. As well as lecturing on the subject (including at literary festivals), she has appeared on BBC radio and television programmes talking about Pteridomania, and has written articles on it for a number of publications, including the Victorian Society's Journal, the National Trust magazine, Country Life, The English Garden and Heritage.

Her book, The Victorian Fern Craze, was published in 2009. The first edition sold out, and it has been reprinted. In February 2012 Frances Lincoln published her major illustrated book, Fern Fever: The Story of Pteridomania, which has received great reviews in the New York Times, Saturday Telegraph, Scotsman magazine, Sunday Times in Ireland, Daily Mail, House & Garden, The English Garden, BBC Gardens Illustrated, The Lady, Cumbria Life, Oxford Times, The World of Interiors, and Country Life, among other publications.

Fern enthusiast treasure trove

Gorgeous photos of fern decorative arts, fern gardens and grottoes, fern cases. Plus a wonderful collection of anecdotes that illuminate the factors that contributed to the unusual instance of mass fern fever among Victorians. I thoroughly enjoy the book and it is one I could pick up over and over again just to review all the photos.

Wow! Interesting tale

I picked this book up after reading the description and I was instantly captivated by the storyline. Starting in the Carpathian Mountains during the winter of 1875, "Europe Has Fallen" follows the exploits of a unit of British Royal Engineers working with their Austrian allies as they are confronted by a mysterious and evil army made up of the stuff from nightmares. The action is fierce, the heroes brave and though they seem stiff and reserved at first, the characters become well-developed as the story flows along. As a history buff, I find a lot of the details fascinating and the thought of facing an army of monsters armed with a single shot Martini-Henry rifle is terrifying.

This book features an ensemble of British, Austrian, and Prussian soldiers who are trying to do their duty while facing impossible odds, but of these, Captain Heyward becomes the central protagonist as the fighting continues. His flashbacks to his happy family and adoring wife are real tearjerkers as he prepares himself to face an army of flesh eaters, giant wolves and other monsters too terrible to mention.

This book is the first in what I suspect will be a very successful series. I can't wait for the next book to arrive.

This is a great book, it has zombies, demons and animals from hell all set in the 1870's. Follow a group of British engineers fighting across Europe. Cant wait for the next book

The characters are mostly military as this is an epic good versus evil war. The action is quick and easy to follow. I liked the book. The author is quite talented.

Provides a good starting point

This text provides a good starting point. More focus on memorization of "facts" with some practical real world application. Could have a better focus on implementation methodologies. For the most part clear and concise. An easy read. Fine for a quarter based college intro to HR class. The apsiring HR maven would need additional materials including better training in methods of application/implementation. Better than most texts in this area
