Not actionable

I found that this book was not particularly actionable, and recycled a lot of content which Altucher has previously published online and in other books of his. Altucher tries to redefine wealth in non-monetary terms, and then speaks abstractly about how to maximize his redefined version of wealth. While it's a snappy title, I don't feel like I learned anything useful from reading it. One major flaw is that Altucher frequently uses himself as a case study, when many of his accomplishments are path-dependent on his prior accomplishments.

The Choose Yourself Guide to Wealth is a James Altucher instance classic. In fact, I’ve been searching for over 15 years for a book like this. I believe it will ultimately be worth at least $1 million – possibly $10 million or more – to me by the time I’ve put it to good use.

If you work in a cubicle all day, perhaps at Proctor and Gamble, and have a feeling deep in your gut that something ain’t right, that the college degree and the corporate gig that you’d been told would set you free just isn’t what it was cracked up to be, then this book is for you. Inside James provides a practical, real constructive, strategy for breaking free from the grind. To Choose Yourself. To navigate past the gate keepers and to experience a life of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual abundance. These are the exact techniques James used to create this life for himself. This is just the book I needed to read, because society at large has always been unreal
to me, artificial, unjust, and frankly, just insane.

Altucher gives you two vital things in this book, maybe three:

He knows how the game of life is changing and what is coming here.

He understands how to make an income more certainly to match the new changes here.

While doing this he understands true service to others and how your income can and
should be tied to actual help to others which will bring you true happiness and money too.

He went through very stressful & depressed times but had the guts to find the true sources
of these things and correct them in his life to his and everyone's benefit.

I applaud his sense of Ethics and Morality and how it came out great for him.
He ended up with money, but not from Greed, but from caring about others.

This book is a must own one, that hopefully more will read, so we have a better life for ALL.
It can do the same for you.

About the Author

Peter Andreas is a professor in the Department of Political Science and the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University. He was previously an Academy Scholar at Harvard University, a Research Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and an SSRC-MacArthur Foundation Fellow on International Peace and Security. "Smuggler Nation" is a fascinating look at an often ignored thread running through America's economic history

This book by Peter Andreas looks at the constant undercurrent of an underground economy in America, and how in many ways, this nation was built on that very thing. In short, people don't like being told what they can and can't buy, and they don't like having to pay endless taxes for a government that they feel is largely out of their reach. I originally purchased "Smuggler Nation" as part of the research for my historical fiction novel, "The Smuggler's Gambit", which is set in 1765 right around the time the Sugar Act and Stamp Act first went into effect. It was during that period in American history when the seeds of Revolution were being planted and frustration with the Crown began to foment."Smuggler Nation" doesn't stop its expose at the colonial era, of course, so I ended up learning so much more from it than I ever expected. It follows the smugglers (and the money) all the way through to modern times. I've still only scratched the surface of reading this hefty volume, but am glad to have it as a useful addition to my reference shelf.

The Seamy Side of American History

An excellent overview of how America was created in no small part made thanks to smuggling. When one thinks of "old" money, smuggler should come to mind. Throw a dart at any book of American history and one is sure to find the name of a famous "patriot" who was involved in the smuggling trade. And regardless of which regime is in place, smuggling will always be an integral part of the underground economy.

The author offers no solutions to the smuggling trade, which is by design since this is meant to be informative.

Also, the writer shows that the growth of law enforcement has grown exponentially as a result of smuggling and the rise of the law-enforcement industrial complex.

Incentives matter as the saying goes; for every type of demand, there is someone who willing to supply it whether that commodity is legal or illegal.

For those who like the truth about American history, this is an excellent source.

I found the history so interesting and challenging I decided to lead a four week session OLLI class to help others understand and discuss this version of American history. Peter Andreas busted my high school version of American history. It's not about patriots and freedom , it's about evading tariffs and accumulating personal wealth. Smuggling has played a key role from out nation's birth to today. Andreas writes clearly and succinctly and transforms my understanding of the American Revolution, the Civil War and Manifest Destiny. From soup to nuts...that is how Dr. King covers the process of counseling. In a delightful conversational style, she outlines both the art and the science of counseling. Her career as a counselor and counselor educator shines through the pages of this brief but potent work. I recommend it to counselor educators as a text for intro and practicum courses. Enjoy it!

One of the Best Counseling Books

This was recommended but not required for my graduate level class. I loved this book. It was a very easy read with tons of excellent examples of dialog and where to take a client issue. My professor did not agree with everything in this book and I saw places where I at my novice stage didn't agree. But it is still an excellent resource and helped me immensely as I began my counseling sessions. My only complaint is that it is expensive for 135 pages.

Nancy Skolos and Thomas Wedell are the principals of Skolos-Wedell, an interdisciplinary graphic design and photography studio.

Husband and wife, photographer and designer, the two work to diminish the boundaries between graphic design and photography - creating collaged three-dimensional images influenced by modern painting, technology, and architecture. With a home and studio halfway between Boston and Providence, they balance their commitments to professional practice and teaching at the Rhode Island School of Design, where Skolos is Head of the Department of Graphic Design.

If you're tired of the simple grid designs done by 98% of the industry, this book is for you. The phrase "Less is more" certainly goes out the window with these designs yet they're beautifully constructed and fun to explore. The book consists of only poster and print design. A go to resource for anyone looking for experimental design inspiration.

I have contacted the publisher several times since this title has gone out of print in the hopes of having them consider a reprint. I use it in an advanced Typography Studio as well as introduce the layout exercises in graduate courses exploring alternative approaches to combining type and image to create message. I know of no better book for advancing a student's understanding of using space to activate message and no better book in offering solutions addressing the most challenging aspect of combining type and image, the integration of two dimensional form in three dimensional space.

The four layout principles that Nancy Skolos and Thomas Wedell offer encourage exploration beyond the most often utilized grid approaches to the integration of type and image. Not only is this a wonderful textbook offering, it is of use to professionals as well, not only for its inspiration but its explanations of the layout principles applied, which offer rationale for critique and presentation. I do hope Rockport will consider another edition.

Excellent Book. Why is it out of print?!

This is one of the best design books I have seen. Great examples and information. When one of my design professors was showing it to us, and then told us it was out of print I was shocked. I had to go on amazon and buy it asap! Good thing I have too. This book is not cheap now.

I debated on cameras back and forth and decided to go with the Nikon D3200. All of my friends have canons and scolded me on buying a Nikon. After reading this book and understanding the features of this camera they are the ones wanting to use it now! (24 MP is awesome!!) This was my very first "dummies" book and found it a very easy and informative read. This book has a lot of step by step instruction and helpful hints about the camera. I have taken a B&W photography class (6 years ago) where we developed our own prints (old school) and this is my first SLR camera, big difference. The book had a few chapters about using the camera to enhance your photography skills, which got me back into the swing of things. This book could benefit a basic photographer as well as someone who just needs info about the camera. I'm happy I picked up the camera and the book to go with it, really made me feel more comfortable about my purchase and this book will be used for future references.

This book really helps if you have no idea what you are doing with your camera. It goes very in depth on getting the most out of your camera.

If you want to learn about your new camera just buy one of these books. Fantastic, Take with you in a ebook so you can use it with the camera. You wont't be sorry.
