Supply chain management is growing both as a research subject and as a crucial field of importance across Organizations. Let me take this opportunity to share my review and feedback on a book ‘Demand Planning with SAP APO - Concepts and Design’ - Authored by Avijit Dutta & Shreekant Shiralkar.

I am an APO Professional working in SAP APO environment for more than twelve years. It gives me immense pleasure to write in recommendation of this book considering the subject and practical approach demonstrated with examples in the demand planning.

The outcome of this book, originates with authors’ extensive subject competence gained through years in Information Technology and SAP Business Consulting world in conjunction with their Industry experience.
The book begins by discussing key aspects of SCM along with SCM solutions supporting an integrated supply chain management framework that improve supply chain performance. The book very well articulates Basic and advanced concepts in APO Demand Planning (DP) and Business warehouse (BW) in connection with ERP Configuration. The Consumer product company business scenarios depict a real life business example, which will help the reader understands the subject with a ‘Business touch’.

This book is awesome and recommend for anyone who wants to start career in APO - DP and good for everyone.

This book is awesome. In fact, it’s more than just a book as it’s bound to become my companion. This book certainly sets a benchmark as to how SAP APO DP should be communicated and implemented.
Authors have done a splendid work in bringing a fine balance of concepts, business rationale and the hands-on approach to learn as well as implement APO DP. The unique process flow diagram is mind blowing that consolidates the entire DP. I have never come across such innovations in book. The diligent and detailed methods in which the screen shots are explained are equally great. This book also sets a very wonderful context of SCM, SAP SCM, SAP APO where DP fits in. Overall the book is full of business examples, diagrams, step-by-step screen shots and a holistic approach in APO DP.
I am more than sure to derive repeat value out of this book.
This book not only has the potential to create APO DP professionals but also will enrich the knowledge of existing APO DP professionals.
I am looking forward to purchase their sequel book, as well.

A sufficient brief summary of the present queend told by someone who knows h�r, but a book with no real surprises. Book lacks depth. Surely there is more to Queen Elizabeth II than that she is conservative and can adapt to the times and that she is no Victoria no matter how long she reigns.

and not useful for the class

I bought this for my Hearing Science class. It was required for a "different perspective". Honestly... I looked in it a few times. But the language and substance coverage in the book was way over many of my peers, including myself, and not useful for the class. If you like a technical book filled with tons of information and like a dry read... go for it. But I did not enjoy reading any part of it. Very hard to follow and not easy to read.
